Well, this guy is named Jaume Ivars Grimalt! I’m passionate about Machine Learning, full-stack development, and entrepreneurship.

About my studies

I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2023, and I completed my master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, and Digital Imaging at the same university in 2024. Finally, I was selected for the CDTM (Center for Digital Technology and Management), a program focused on entrepreneurship and technology based in Munich, Germany.

The work

I have worked at several startups: Sciling as a backend developer, Neurocatching as a full-stack developer (basically taking care of the whole product), and I am currently at Vesta-Z as CTO, responsible for developing the company's AI and database.

The projects I'm working on now

Currently, I'm working on my master's thesis, where I'm creating the largest open-source dataset of petri dish images for the automatic detection of different microorganism colonies. To achieve this feat, I lead a team of 5 people to develop the App and, depending on the time, between 12 and 20 additional people to create the dataset in one of the largest collaborations within the university.

Another big project I'm working on is SparkED. I'm a member of the Core Team of SparkED, the most disruptive entrepreneurship community in Valencia, where I connect with the city's top entrepreneurs and organize high-level activities for the community. Among other things, I created the website sparked.es and organized the largest entrepreneurship event in UPV history, Spark your Speech.

Paused projects

Some time ago, I decided to create FairJourney as an alternative to BlaBlaCar since I've traveled a lot using this app and many users mentioned their issues with the app, so I saw an opportunity. The problem was that I tried to create the app all by myself, and it took up too much time. Currently, the backend is finished, and the frontend is about 70% done. I decided to prioritize other projects like Mycrospace and SparkED, which had more potential. But in the future, I’d like to revisit and complete the project.

About my hobbies and interests

I love doing sports and going to the gym, especially practicing calisthenics. I also love playing Nintendo Switch and watching interesting videos on YouTube. Additionally, I enjoy drawing and watching Studio Ghibli movies.

Also, as a true nerd, I like to read and stay updated on the latest news in Machine Learning and scientific advances.
